i’m cheating! i bought new sneakers for $25 in KMart (i know i know – how could i… not proper support yadda yadda)… but seriously – they were a bit of fun. Called “Body Firm” these little babies claim to be able to do all sorts of wonderful toning things to your body as you walk. woOt!!! and so much in fact you can only wear the for 20 minutes the first time you wear them, right-e-o… let’s go!! 20 minutes later on the first day and I’m thinking… yep, you get what you pay for!! Ha! However I decide … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 20 June 2011

Everyone loves the sun and being outside. I don’t know many who don’t!! Nature is a natural feel good. However, we all hear that depression increases in winter and it’s no wonder with all the dark, dreary and dead cold days. Day in and day out. Today was such an exception though. The sun came out to play. So, off we went to join it!! Had to start the day just simply relaxing with the sun on my face. Gosh I soaked it up. It was a cold day – but that sun just seeped into every pour and put … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 18/19 June 2011

Onliners come in all shapes and sizes. Some are here to connect with family, some are here to promote their business, some are here to simply connect. In many ways when I started my online journey all those years ago now it was purely for work purposes. I lived in an IT world… project administration, eCommerce, online banking, extranets and making it happen. It engulfed my life. I watched the dot.com crash, the Y2K succeed and the birth of social media. its been a good journey. So it never surprised me when I immersed myself into the “age of conversation“. … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 17 June 2011

They are called morning walks for a reason, I am sure. Oh heck – it’s because they are in the morning!! DOH. When everyone else has either gone to work, school, or somewhere, it’s just idiots like me who have to motivate myself away from the home office to get some exercise into my day. BUT IT’S TOO BLUDY COLD. Laugh away… it’s OK. But might I just say… Whilst I couldn’t speak to my walking buddy Lara until after the first few sips of my coffee… the walking of the two dogs and the almost jog home did wonders … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 16 June 2011

So, I tried some vitamins and they sent me to the moon… (remember this post:ย https://charlierobinson.wordpress.com/2011/06/10/healthy-heart-challenge-hearttime-10-june-2011/). So, I hand today’s blog over to Kelly Hamilton from Body Life Balance who explains more about our health supplements. Hope you enjoy her words of wisdom ๐Ÿ™‚ Heart health and supplementation Kelly says “Balance is best and less is more is what I advise my patients. These days the standard Australian diet contains mostly acid forming foods, the soils are deficient of vital minerals and we are exposed to a barrage of chemicals and others stresses on a daily basis. So even if you … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 15 June 2011

Hapi birfday to the Queen! So, the queen in my life (my mum) had to be brought down to the beach today to commence a holiday with her sister. Not being one in full health, I sorted her out and then spent the arvo cooking up a storm to have them fed for the next few days. The beef stew was for dinner with leftovers a plenty. A vegetable soup was made to help them with lunches. They have plenty of variety for the rest of the time. All good. Of course, by the time all this was done, and … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 13 June 2011

Body Life Balance was created by Kelly Hamilton to create a health company that focuses on natural medicine in conjunction with the body’s naturalย rhythmsย and self healing mechanism’s to help address health issues. Kelly uses a process called Bioresonance that identifies the frequencies of stressors impacting the body’s health such as viruses, toxins, environmental pollutants, foods etc and reverses their frequencies to neutralise their effect.ย    I met Kelly through a mutual friend (Bunty Parsons) several years ago and she has always lived and breathed healthy. She is certainly someone I admire and listen to about body health. And whilst I … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 11/12 June 2011

I learnt a new word today: adaptogen It’s when you have/eat/take something but the body only accepts what it needs. Had a bit of an interesting reaction to the vitamins I had put myself onto and so I’ve decided to stop them and return to just eating normal healthy stuff again until I work out more fully why I turned into a space cadet!! They had me flying off walls – believe me. So, here’s my homemade minestrone soup – with no meat!! It’s vegetarian. Tasted YUMMY. All good ๐Ÿ™‚   Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 10 June 2011

OK, I’m a norty girl today – havent walked or eaten anything healthy. Even worried about the vitamins that sent me into cyberspace last night. Obviously need a big kick up the bum!!! Reading the card on my desk “Live in the moment and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering” had me have an energy packed day though!! Computer problems were sorted, client twitter account issues were sorted, a few contract applications were sent off and I contributed to an idea the Heart Foundation SA are considering. So, not all wasted!! And certainly not a bad … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 9 June 2011

brrrrrrrrrr i said I’d do this come rain, hail or shine but I didnt expectย iciclesย landing on my face!! a brisk walk at the beach turned into a bit of a jog back to the car about half way through. I managed only about 20 minutes – but as it was so brisk I decided to count it as a good effort!!!   You can see from the fotos – that grey cloud was WICKED! ย ย  Related articles Brisk Walking May Help Keep Prostate Cancer in Check (mazumdarshawcancercenter.wordpress.com) Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 8 June 2011

Of course a Healthy Heart isnt just all about food and exercise. From my own personal experience it’s also about our environment. And no I dont mean the birds and trees (although those Kookaburras were dam cute and very well timed I must say). By environment I mean what we surround ourselves with. I live an alternate lifestyle to many. My kids are like my friends (altho they know who’s boss when they need to – I’m OK at both mentoring and delegation) and I share custody of my youngest. I live with a friend due to having to sell … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 7 June 2011

Kelly asked me a week ago if I walked/ran until it burned. Not then, but I did tonight. In amongst getting lost in the backstreets, being laughed at by Kookaburras and giving jogging a proper go, I was puffing so hard when I got home I couldnt speak for rather a long time. Miss Talking Girl laughed at me… as did everyone else online when I mentioned it. Thanks guys – love ya guts!!   Finished off with another healthy meal – this time using “Heart Smart” meat!! woOt… there’s no stopping this #hearttime addiction Related articles Healthy Heart Challenge… … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 6 June 2011

Beautiful start to my day being woken by birds singing and a clear blue sky to look out on. It fills the heart with such a lovely feeling. In less than one week I am feeling stronger and healthier just from simply being aware that I want to look after my body and having fantastic girlfriends and support around me to motivate me on. It really has been a great start to the Healthy Heart Challenge. During this time Ive been having conversations in my social media streams and hearing lots of stories. I have met Andrew, who gave me … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 4 June 2011

Well it’s been three days now and Ive had varying success. From being active, to eating healthy food, to having good positive thoughts to keep my blood pressure down. The champion is off to a good start!! yah Today’s effort made me puff. I walked up hill to a local coffee shop (20mins away), met Lara and helped her walk the dogs across the park, had a coffee and then walked home. Well over an hour out but i feel invigorated, fresh and ready for a shower!! Found this great article online re fat fighting foods. I love eating healthy but I dont always get it right. Whilst I dont “watch my weight” and diet as such, I like things that will help reduce (or dont contribute to) the fat areas… yes, I have the 40 year old spread… well, it’s now the 45 year old spread! LOL Loved that I could still eat my avocado’s (yaaah). I had them for my snack this arvo. I guess it’s like anything though – eat in moderation ๐Ÿ™‚ Here’s the link to that article: http://www.bodyandsoul.com.au/food+diet/nutrition/top+10+fat+fighting+foods,7419 How are you going? … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge #hearttime 25 May 2011

Healthy Heart Challenge 23 May 2011

#hearttime was spread across the day. starting out this morning i did some exercises (bit aerobic like) and then tonight concentrated on the insides with a fresh vegetable stirfry. it was yummy, quick, and healthy. Ive been reading a few books about breaking habits. One of the things they recommend is instead of vegging out in front of the TV every night (or for me that’s the computer), to recognise the difference between mental and physical exhaustion. Meaning, we may be mentally exhausted, but we wouldnt be physically. Exercise will actually make us feel better. So, now I just have … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge 23 May 2011

This was about the heart, right? I think I need a lung transplant first!! We took a left turn tonight and went UP the hill. I was ready to turn back after five minutes. Completely puffed. But we (Miss JM and I) forged on… this time with the dog in tow as well. Glad I did as we got a stunning view over the city and the legs felt good as we powered back DOWN the hill. Can quite easily say i felt good about it. Let’s see if the great feeling lasts? Anyway… I wanted to tell you a … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge 3 May 2011

Healthy Heart Challenge… til today (2 May 2011)

Since i last wrote ive had a bit of a holiday (over the long easter break), celebrated my eldest daughter’s and mother’s birthday, and partied at a right royal wedding reception. However i havent shied from my dedication to start preparing for my champion commitment to the Healthy Heart Challenge. In fact, i have walked through the adelaide hills… and generally been a very busy girl!! I’ve danced the night away, eaten great healthy food and laughed. All good for the heart! That said, i’ve also slipped and mis-behaved too and this is where i’m hoping my commitment will start … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge… til today (2 May 2011)

Healthy Heart Challenge, Day Two

Not all things are easy. Generally Day Two of anything is hard. BUT… I met some Twitter friends for a coffee and then came home and did stretching exercises (yep that’s the camera swinging above my head in the foto) as it was too dark to walk. Did it get my heart racing? Probably not as much as it should but I will work on it. Note to self: must do better on Day Three Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge, Day Two

Healthy Heart Challenge, Day One

Officially this all starts on 1 June but I have pre-registered and started early because to be quite honest – i needed to!! So, the gig for the Healthy Heart Challenge is to include 30 minutes of exercise into everyday. Many might say that I am pretty active already and you’d be right. But most of it is daily routine, driving from A to B and sitting at the computer writing. Nothing much in there to get the heart going or even racing. The gym membership sits there unattended. So, we have started the NEW routine to include the heart … Continue reading Healthy Heart Challenge, Day One
