Life has been complicated
Some days a peaceful smile
Others not.
For love and loss go hand in hand
Even forever, but what have we got?
An empty shell, who’s to tell
When on the inside
It’s dying as hell.
All we seek is what the magazines say
Give a bit of love
That’s what we pray.
All we seek is what our mamma said
Reach for the stars
Don’t behave.
All we seek is forgiveness
For what we may do
For what we may say.
Perhaps we’re not here searching
For perfect, polished days
But learning through the heartache
That love arrives in waves.
The tears become the teacher
The laughter finds its cue
And every ending softly
Makes room for something anew.
Life will stay complicated
Some days we’ll smile,
Some not.
But if love and loss walk together
Then perhaps that’s all we’ve got.
Enough to keep us hoping
Enough to carry through
For every heart that’s broken
Still beats for something true.
All we seek is love.
