CHARLIE’S SOCIAL MEDIA PREDICTIONS FORĀ 2023; COURTSHIP

Word of the year = Goblin mode

Charlie-Helen Robinson says… I’m in goblin mode.

No, in many ways, 2022 was a very successful year. Different, but good stuff was done. The Vintage Ball was a highlight and we got to raise lots of money for grassroot charities. Big love for the VB Committee in the pic below – Laoise, Sonia, Liz, Peter and Bel.

When irony makes a post more engaging, it’s fate is sealed

Storytellers of a Modern Age; Using the Selfie on a Journey

#selfiestickmadness

Since receiving my #selfiestickĀ from ABC’s Michael Smyth (@MichaelSmyth_ ) last Thursday, there have been various moments when I’ve essentially pulled out the stick and given it a whirl… errrr test. There has been a huge amount of conversation on Facebook since I shared my first picture in front of the ABC building. Given these conversations, I’d be surprised if there were any left in the shops by the time Christmas comes!! Pretty much everyone has decided it’s a great Christmas present and sitting at around the $20 mark (depending on where you buy it and what it includes ie like … Continue reading #selfiestickmadness

7 Reasons Why You Should Do Business With Me

Contemporary public relations requires a level of understanding across ALL the medias these days but there are levels of understanding within every profession, and there are levels of understanding. My own stance has been to say, “Look at how long they have been doing it, what their level of engagement is like across ALL social medias (not just Facebook, and certainly not just Twitter), and if they are living and breathing like me, then you have found yourself a good one.” There are some goodies out there, you just have to look for the right things. 7 Reasons to Have that Photo Taken Anyway

So, you’re a business person, professional or simply too old for this stuff, but there she goes, a camera comes out at a business networking function, work drinks or a friends BBQ and you roll your eyes and cringe. And actually, you don’t even need to be one of those characters, you could just be having a bad hair day.

Here are seven reasons how you can manage your reaction and why you should simply let the photo be taken. Continue reading 7 Reasons to Have that Photo Taken Anyway

The Facebook Giraffe riddle: the proliferation of messages

Originally posted on Julian Stodd's Learning Blog:
The Great Facebook Giraffe Riddle (attribution unknown) I’m in the fortunate position in being a great lover of giraffes: fortunate in that the proliferation of photos of baby giraffes on Facebook has cheered me up no end. Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or don’t exist on Facebook, which amounts to much the same thing…) you must have noticed that there are suddenly a lot of giraffes around. Hundreds of thousands of them in fact. Around the world, people have been attempting to answer a riddle: get the riddle wrong and… Continue reading The Facebook Giraffe riddle: the proliferation of messages

Facebook Timeline: Quirky little thing happened on the way to celebrating my birfday… Not sure if anyone else has noticed this issue… however as I received rather “a lot” of messages via my Facebook wall… many got “bundled together” and so… as a direct result, I haven’t seen them or have been challenged to access and read. I do hope people don’t think i’m rude that i haven’t replied!!!   hmmmmm eeeeek Facebook??? What’s the story, morning glory? Insights into my Facebook Page is so Engaging

My social media pet peeve is businesses using Facebook incorrectly ie as a personal profile, not a page. My opinion stems from ethics, authenticity andĀ transparencyĀ asĀ its against Facebook guidelines and rules. Sites like Facebook retain good policies and practices for a reason ie protecting younger, older and vulnerable citizens and also stopping bullies. So, if businesses bend rules in one area… why would they not in another? Point blank, I don’t like it. There’s also a very valid BUSINESS reason why a business should use a Facebook page and not a profile. The analytics. Insights as they are known on Facebook. … Continue reading Insights into my Facebook Page is so Engaging

Topics and themes being unearthed… part three…

A little bit of research never goes astray. -charlie I read today that I’d be classed as a naturalĀ ethnographer ie someone who hangs around online to gain a better understanding. As this person (just commenting on a post that I read) put it, an onlineĀ ethnographerĀ loves to explore and understand the culture of communities, and the patterns that define the relationships. Of course, online, is one of the most exciting andĀ enthrallingĀ of new places to “hang out”. It’s impossible to say anything other than online is in it’s infancy, simply due to the very fact it has only been around for about … Continue reading Topics and themes being unearthed… part three…

Facebook basics for friends

Part one… Use a current, clear image for our profile shot. it’s called “face” book for a reason – we all like to see your face. check your privacy settings. Set everything to “friends only” until you are comfortable. check your basic directory information (within privacy settings) as this is how Facebook shares your information with the world ie via google etc. One area in particular that you may wish to consider is who sees and who doesn’t see your friends list, so check >> “See my friend list”. check your account for notification settings. You may wish to turn … Continue reading Facebook basics for friends

Hard lessons in life… and facebook

Its a week since I last blogged here but it’s been a big week. I’ve written proposals, fulfilled contracts, continued moving house, lost access to my Facebook account and generally had a busy time of it. So, do please be patient!! On Tuesday 8th June, my personal profile (Charlie Helen Robinson) was suspended by Facebook until they worked out an anomaly with an “unusual payment activity” that occurred. Unfortunately it meant everything associated with this personal profile’s email address (charlie@charliedesign.net.au) had been suspended as well. This included all Facebook Pages created by my personal profile that were as sole trader … Continue reading Hard lessons in life… and facebook

So, I unearthed a new trend today. Can facebook help?

I am currently doing my diploma in business and i was in the strategic marketing class of 09 talking about target markets, segments, and trends today. The example we were discussing was around the 9 year old v the 12 year old. What do they want? I have this almost exact scenario at home ie the 10 year old with the 15 year old, so I related well. We summed up that kids today still want what kids 50 years ago wanted – ie the latest and greatest in “whatever”. whether that be the latest shoe, trend or dress that … Continue reading So, I unearthed a new trend today.
