A son without his father
A girl without her mom
Let’s get this poem started
It’s life, including our dearly departed.
It’s said,
We go through childhood believing
Life is led with care not grieving
But every life has its day.
They say.
What if we kept superceding in this life,
Moving onward through joy and strife?
Would wisdom grow or fade away
If no true ending marked the day?
It’s said,
They didn’t mean to leave us this way
We know they helped us pray
So now we forge ahead.
Well read.
What if love took over,
Moving our hearts for us to remember?
Would we still feel the ache
In love’s wake?
It’s said,
They leave their legacy instead
We lay down in our bed
Making hay in the sun shine.
It’s time.
What if others appear to fill a gap?
Moving our soul with delight.
Then what was left behind
We’d find.
It’s said,
When lucky, life is divine
When not, we commit no crime
But our self defences unfold.
Or so I am told.
What if everything we do is true?
What if we are believed beyond belief?
Then unconditional love would reign
Untamed.
It’s said,
A son carries our story
A girl carries the memory
The love lives on,
Though none of us are the same.
Refrain.
