A WINE LOVERS STORY
Jim Manning, or Jimbo as he is affectionately known, is a self-employed Green Energy Consultant, Systems and Process Management Consultant, the Deputy Chairman of Way Out West Broadcaster, Unearthing Wine Group Judge and more importantly, the Presenter and Producer of WOW 100.5FM – Out and About With Jimbo and The Old Ball Game Show.
To say Jimbo could talk under water would be an underestimation of his talent. But, in short, Jimbo’s passion is baseball, the environment, other worldly adventures and South Australian independent musicians.
He also loves a good red wine.
It’s Jimbo’s passion in everything he does that is testimony to his ongoing perseverance and strength.
He is an inspiration.
Each week during the summer on a Saturday Morning between 10am and Midday, Jimbo joins Andrew Sperling, Sue Tomlinson and Peter Wyatt to present two hours of one of his passion in life; baseball and softball news. On air, he has interviewed the likes of Nathan Davison, the General Manager Adelaide Bite, Darren Fidge, the Assistant Coach/Pitcher Adelaide Bite, Craig Watts, the Assistant Coach Adelaide Bite, and Annette Fidge, coach of the Adelaide Starz, and a Director of Softball Australia.
He also presents Out and About on Thursday mornings covering general interest topics and commentary with a new emphasis on Independent Music in South Australia. His rekindled passion for music started after a casual comment planning the segment for RUOK Day and Beyond Blue. Charlie-Helen Robinson, a very good friend and Unearthing Wine Founder, suggested he talk to local artist Brett Monten (also of Plan B fame), as he had written and dedicated a song for the day, called RUOK.
Jim says, “I have a focus on local Independent songwriters, composers, lyricists and musicians. It has become a passion and I am very privileged to have now met so many very talented people and I am sure many any more to come.”
Charlie-Helen Robinson, Founder of Unearthing Wine says, “It is truly my privilege to have met some beautiful people in this journey of Unearthing Wine. Everybody I know loves to talk about the group – they love the concept, the idea, it doesn’t stop. It’s wonderful. I enjoy it and and along the journey we have unearthed a keen group of standout volunteers. They have been dedicated, loyal and strong. Jimbo has been a supporter of the group since day one. He is my wine judge and my rock. He made the now famous quote “what if we don’t unearth anymore dead ones?” and I have continued to enjoy proving him wrong, but it’s been fun. It is wonderful that I can name my next release after him. The 2008 Shiraz from McLaren Vale has been specially blended for us and is exceptional.”
It will be best served relaxed, pontificating over baseball, the environment and other worldly adventures with a hearty laugh! In true Jimbo style!
